BIG BANKS IN A LARGE FRYING PAN
Next week, both Senate Banking and House Financial Services will hear from the CEOs of America’s largest banks.  The extent of their welcome is sure to vary considerably by both party identification and political ideology.  Much of Chairwoman Waters’ (D-CA) tone was set at last week’s hearing with the prudential regulators (see Client Report REFORM205); that for Senate Banking will be known after the one-two punch Chairman Brown (D-OH) clearly plans as FRB Vice Chairman Quarles is alone among the regulators to come before the Committee on Tuesday ahead of the CEOs.
