Continuing the build-out of bank-equivalent standards, FHFA late yesterday issued its first-ever compliance guidance for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.  Although the standards incorporate points in previous risk-management, governance, operational, and third-party edicts, the new standards are considerably more prescriptive, especially with regard to the third-party vendor relationships that increasingly trouble all the federal financial regulators.
