As required under Dodd-Frank the CFPB has launched an investigation into financial products marketed on college campuses, with a specific interest in the affinity relationships between higher-education and financial institutions, as well as in the types of products and services offered to students. The products in question typically include college-endorsed credit cards, but the information collection also covers bank accounts that are both designed and marketed specifically to college students. The CFPB now seeks an array of views on these products, and has considerable regulatory authority to govern them at both financial and higher-education institutions should it then decide to do so.
