Although the current FHFA strategic plan is set to run through 2022, FHFA yesterday set out a new conservatorship plan making it clear that change is coming far more quickly than the prior, status quo plan suggested. This is of course consistent with the Administration blueprint and subsequent FHFA statements, including those as recently as yesterday from FHFA Director Calabria. What is new in the plan and scorecard is the focus on GSE activity to advance housing supply – however that is to be done, to reconsider the CRT program, and to impose new restrictions on nonbank servicers.
