In this report, we assess the state of play after two Bernanke appearances on the Hill, the fractious FinServ hearing yesterday and a flurry of related developments – not least among them FinServ’s plans to mark up the Hensarling bill on Tuesday. We see significant momentum for a House-Senate conference in the fall in which the House sits down with something like the Hensarling bill, the Senate starts with Johnson-Crapo on FHA and new law ends up somewhere in the middle not just on the FHA, but also on a new framework for Fannie and Freddie.
