Today’s Senate Banking hearing on the state of the GSEs after nine years in conservatorship made clear that work is underway to craft a bipartisan housing reform bill. The only concern for Republicans is that Mel Watt will rock the boat with a unilateral decision to retain a GSE capital buffer to avoid a draw on the Treasury.
