Absent finding any thrills in the text of the securitization-reform bill, the mark-up of the now-introduced bill advanced on predictable party lines to approve a bill that appears little different from the initial Garrett draft. We think it will pass the House next year, possibly in combination with the Hensarling GSE-privatization bill to put a complete housing-reform package on the table far sooner than conventional wisdom so far suspects.
