Post Watt, What?

As you well know, the Senate renewed partisan warfare yesterday and rejected the Watt nomination to head FHFA.  His chances to run the agency may not be over – Democrats vowed yesterday to fight on – but the battle has considerable impact on the seemingly bipartisan ambiance that has so far glowed over Senate Banking’s housing-reform proceedings.  Here, we assess where that effort stands after hearings this week and how events now are likely to unfold.
