The Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee of House Financial Services today took up the threshold for designating BHCs for systemic regulation, considering both House legislation in this area (see FSM Report SYSTEMIC76) and provisions to this effect in the Senate Banking measure (see FSM Report SIFI4).  Although Chairman Neugebauer (R-TX) said that there is bipartisan support for change, several Democrats—including Subcommittee Ranking Member Clay (D-MO) and Full Committee Ranking Member Waters (D-CA) were hesitant about sweeping change.
