HUD plagued by staff turnover, vacancies at the top

The Department of Housing and Urban Development, already crippled by the government shutdown, is also being slammed by an exodus of top talent that is jeopardizing its ability to provide assistance to nearly 10 million Americans. The recent departures of HUD Deputy Secretary Pam Patenaude and Ginnie Mae acting President Michael Bright are just the latest exits by key housing officials, both in and outside of HUD. The Federal Housing Finance Agency, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have all either experienced turnover at the top, or are about to. …“HUD is notoriously a mess even under the best of circumstances; HUD under the worst of circumstances is a frightening proposition,” said Karen Petrou, managing partner of Federal Financial Analytics.
